Glenace was born in Waukee and lived most of her adult life in Dallas Center. She married Vernie Lounsberry on October 21, 1939 on the Barrett family farm near Waukee. After living in California for a year they moved to Dallas Center where they farmed and raised their two daughters, Brenda and Carol. Glenace was a member of the Dallas Center United Methodist Church, Questers and the National and Iowa Bell Association. Whether directing the choir at church, singing, teaching piano or voice lessons, Glenace's life was filled with music. She also had a passion for collecting bells, other antiques and traveling.
Glenace is survived by her husband Vernie, daughters; Brenda (Donald) Blumberg of Turtle Lake, WI and Carol (Chuck) Yeisley of Palmyra, IL, grandchildren; Tracy (Scott) Opfer of Springfield, MO, Michael Harvey of Minneapolis, MN, Richard (Jaimee) Lorey of Van Couver, WA and Dawn (Tim)Hawley of Los Angeles, CA, brother Harold (Lilla) Barrett of Waukee and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes – Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Spurgeon Manor.
