Richard H. Marsh was born 5-19-1847 on a boat in the Erie Canal the son of William and Frances (Howe) Marsh. It is not known at this time if he had siblings.

As a young boy his parents came to Oakland County, MI. He attended school to become a teacher in Ypsilanti and then enlisted in the army from there. After serving in the Civil War he returned to Syracuse, NY and attended business school. After graduating he returned to Michigan.

On 11-11-1873 he married Ella Reynolds in Saline, MI.

To this union one known son was born. Roy Howard Marsh on 12-13-1875.

Which indicates Ella may have been her middle name.

Richard was stricken with locomotor ataxia on 12-6-1890 and afterwards was unable to walk. The family then moved to Lansing in 1893 where Richard worked in the auditor general’s office and also served as a justice of the peace.

Richard died 7-23-1907 in Mason, MI he is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.

His only grandchild, Frances died on 10-5-1900
Ella died 2-2-1922 in Jackson, MI
Roy died 4-17-1928 in Lansing, MI
Roy’s second wife, Florence died 10-23-1941 in Haslett, MI

Ella, Roy and Florence are all buried on Lot 965 in Maple Grove with Richard. It is not known where Frances may be buried. Her death certificate states Mt Hope Cemetery, Lansing, MI
