Barbara J. Fahr, 56 years old, was called home to be with her heavenly father on April 20, 2015 at 1:00 a.m., after a valiant 2 year fight with brain cancer. Her strong will to live, unwaivering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through more than 2 years of chemotherapy. Yet, even throughout her own struggle with cancer, she was always more worried about others.
Barbara was born July 16, 1958 in Harrisburg, Arkansas, to Burley and Inez Sefers. The youngest of four siblings, Daisy Harris, Billy Sefers and Rickey Sefers, who have all been called home. I’m sure they are all up in heaven spectating over all of us right now.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation, even with total strangers, you may be surprised to learn she always talked like this. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her amazing gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around will never be forgotten.
She would want you to know her greatest gifts in life were her kids. The oldest, Adam Fahr of Paragould and her baby Matthew Fahr of Harrisburg. They both married Kellys, giving her the Kelly she always wanted. The one thing she loved even more than her sons and daughter in laws was her grand babies. Anyone that ever met her knew within the first 60 seconds knew all there was about them. There was no doubt that Jade, Acey and Ragan were the light of her life. She is also survived a her friend and companion, Barry Whitaker, her sister in law, Donna Sefers, a nephew Joey Sefers and a niece Dawn Harris.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jerry Thompson and Brother Jimmy Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Bolivar Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Joey Easter, Randy Ingram, Jarrett Davidson, Blane Davidson, David Obrien, and Brad Swanner. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Simmons, Roger Wrinkle, Jetty Mills, Ronnie Hill and Marvin Krauss.
Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many friends, support groups and organizations that helped sustain them through the past few years.
