RALPH SMITH WED TO HELENA GIRL
Ralph S. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl I. Smith of Dillon, and Miss Alexandria Blain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Blain of Helena, were married in the Capi­tol City on Saturday, Feb. 14. The wedding was solemnized at noon in the Cathedral rectory with Father Major of Helmville offic­iating.

The bride was attired in a silk costume suit in gold crepe with tan and green accessories and carried a bouquet of talisman roses and iris. Mrs. Thomas Root of Helena, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Thomas Blain, brother of the bride, was best man.

Attending from Dillon were Mrs. Pearl I. Smith, Miss Rachel Smith and Miss Georgia Mae Metlen, teacher at Billings.

A wedding breakfast was served in the home of the bride’s parents, after which Mr. and Mrs. Smith left on a short wedding trip. They will make their home in Dillon on their return.

Mrs. Smith is a graduate of the State College at Bozeman and has had considerable post-graduate training. She has been teaching in the art department at Casper, Wyoming High School. Mr. Smith is a graduate engineer of Kansas University and received his Mas­ters degree at the Butte School of Mines. He is engineer at the Ermont mines and also interested in mining interests in the county.

Mrs. Ralph I Smith Named Camp Fire Girl Executive

Mrs. Ralph I. Smith, president of the Butte Council of Camp Fire Girls, has been named Camp Fire Girl executive and camp director succeeding Mrs. Thomas M. Edwards who has been executive director of the council.

Mrs. Edwards, who held the position the last three and one-half years has resigned, but will continue service to the Camp Fire program in a volunteer capacity.

Mrs. Smith has turned her duties as council president over to Mrs. James Smitham, second vice president, who is now acting president of the council.

Mrs. Smith, the former Alexandria Blain of Helena, is a graduate of the one-time St. Vincent Academy High School of Helena and Montana State College, Bozeman. She has taught high school in Willow Creek. Montana, and in Casper, Wyo.

She has long been active In the Camp Fire organization in Butte. She also is a past president of School of Mines Faculty Wives and of St. Ann Home School Assn. Her hobbies include ceramics, copper enameling and youth work. Her husband, Ralph, is an associate professor of metallurgy at Montana School of Mines. The family home is at 312 State. Professor and Mrs. Smith are the parents of four children, Marilex, Celinda, James and Jonathan.

Alexandria B. "Lex' Smith, 66, 3121 State, a former executive of Camp Fire Girls, died Monday in a local hospital.

Born March 15,1911, in Helena, Mrs. Smith attended Montana State University and Saint Mary College. She was a teacher before becoming involved with Camp Fire Girls. She had been in Butte since 1946. Mrs. Smith was a member of American Association of University Women, Shakespeare Club, Gem and Mineral Club, Floral Park Community Club and Montana Institute of the Arts.

She married Ralph Smith Feb. 14, 1942, in Helena. Her husband, a former Montana Tech professor, survives, as do sons and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Smith of Washington, DC, and Mr. and Mrs. James Smith of Spokane; son-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Paul W Hicks of Fort Belvoir, Va., and Sister Mary Lex Smith of Topeka, Kan.; sisters, Mrs. Thomas Zoeller of Butte, Mrs., Lucille Root of Dallas and Adele Blain of Los Gatos, Calif., and three grandchildren,

Rosary will be Wednesday at 8 in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday at 9:30 in St.: Ann Church followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon.
