Rev. Strother Riley Brown, 88, of the Christian Nursing Home, Lincoln, formerly of Riverton, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday in the home.

He was born in Lockport, Ky., the son of Samuel and Julia Rayzor Brown.

He had been a resident of Riverton for 24 years prior to moving to Lincoln.

His wife, Nancy Ethel Ruh, preceded him in death in 1961.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Riverton and a minister of the Church of God for 50 years in Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana.

Surviving is a son, John F. of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Wilma) Roberts of Springfield and Mrs. Naomi Hicks of Riverton; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, Rev. Max Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
