June Rita Murphy Chapman, age 70 of Cropwell, AL peacefully passed away to her heavenly home July 2, 2012 following a five year battle with COPD and multiple related health problems. She was preceded in death by her parents, Welcome W. and Berta O. Murphy.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory her devoted husband and best friend for 53 years Robert C. Chapman of Cropwell, AL; godchild Amanda Buchanan of Oneonta, AL; her uncle and aunt Lonnie and Ruth Murphy of Hartselle, AL; brother and sister-in-laws, T. Ronald and Andrea Chapman of LaFayette, LA, William R. and Chris Chapman of Huntsville, AL and Patsey Chapman of Pinson, AL; several cousins and nieces; a special nephew William R. Chapman, Jr. of Pinson, AL; special friends Darrell Palmer of Hoover, AL, Crystal and Tom Buchanan of Oneonta, AL, Lila and Sam Jones of Cropwell, AL, Pat Tucker of Cropwell, AL, Judy and Jim Harvey of Irondale, AL and Nancy and Joe Warden of Pinson, AL.

Born in Mobile, AL she was raised in Valhermoso Springs, AL and graduated from Cotaco High School in Somerville, AL. Following high school she trained in a dental assistant and hygienist preceptor program under Dr. Max Mashburn (deceased) in Homewood, AL and became a certified dental assistant and registered dental hygienist. She worked multiple years as a dental hygienist for Dr. Max Mashburn in Homewood, AL and Dr. Jimmy Wall in Huntsville, AL. Later in her career she was trained and worked as an oral surgeon assistant under Dr. Alan Koslin (deceased) in Birmingham, AL where she retired to become a full time care giver for her parents until they passed.

June was a member of East Lake United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL and was devoted to God and Family and loved the church. Her special joy in life in addition to her husband and several special pets both cats and dogs, was a passion for music, sports cars, clothes, jewelry and caring for animals of all types. After living 35 years in Birmingham she enjoyed the Logan Martin Lake retirement home along with the ducks and geese. One neighbor called her "The Duck Lady".

The Family wishes to express thanks to Dr. John Maloof, Dr. Vijay Caplash, Dr. Alan Vines, Dr. Alvaro Aldana, the staffs at St. Vincent's East, Lloyd Noland Hospital Birmingham, Village at Cook Springs and St. Vincent's Home Health St. Clair for the care provided over the last five years of her life. Special thanks go to Eve Brittian, RN, St. Vincent's Home Health and Tammy Maxwell a devoted sitter, companion, and friend for providing care, assistance and support for several years.

A memorial service celebrating June's Life will be held at East Lake United Methodist Church July 6, 2012 at 10am with Rev. Sally Allocca officiating. Visitation will precede the Service at 9am. Internment will be in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery, Valhermoso Springs, AL in the afternoon at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the Family requests donations be made to East Lake United Methodist Church (7753 First Ave South, Birmingham, AL 35206) or to Animal Shelter of Pell City, Inc. (1071 Airport Road, Pell City, AL 35128). Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
