Irene E. Yorek, a resident of Bowlus, died March 4, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus with Father Greg Ombok officiating. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery in Bowlus.

Irene E. Yorek was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Two Rivers Township, Morrison County, to the late Nicholas and Sophie (Kuklok) Posch. She grew up in the North Prairie area and attended country school. Irene worked for Munsingwear in Little Falls for several years before she was united in marriage to Theodore Yorek Sept. 30, 1946, in North Prairie. The couple resided and farmed on the Yorek family farm north of Bowlus, retiring in 1987. Irene was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus and also the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, garage sales, raising chickens and spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by her daughters Jan Braun (Bruce) of Avon, Diane Berndt (Merlin) of Rice, Debbie Yorek of St. Cloud, Karen Szczodroski (Leo) of Little Falls, Mary Hegna (Michael) of Little Falls, Sharon Thell (Robert) Freeport and Kathy Manley (Jim) of Gillette, Wyo.; son Kenneth Yorek (Brenda) of Little Falls; sister Theresa Yorek (John) of Little Falls; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore Yorek and three sisters. Honorary pallbearers were Audrey Yourczek, Dolly Boser, Richard Yorek and Ray Booth. Active pallbearers were Lee Hegna, Dan Yorek, Brian Braun, Kurt Thell, Jason Berndt, Steve Berndt, Joe Berndt and Ryan Yorek.
