Barbara Lee was born on January 1, 1948 in Flint, Michigan to parents, Charles Kasmier Pietrosz and Mary Elizabeth Vickers, both of Flint, Michigan.
Barbara and her brother, Chuck were adopted after her parents deaths by Leonard and Georgia Norman of Dickinson, Texas in 1960.
She attended Texas Women's College in 1969. In 1974, she married Charles Rodney Peterson in Houston, Texas.
Barbara is survived by her husband Rodney of Ouray, Colorado; brother, Chuck Norman of Dickinson, Texas; three daughters and their spouses, Caroline & Earl Burleson of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; Nikki & John Komar of Ouray, Colorado and Jennifer Canavan of Ouray, Colorado. Barbara had 7 grandchildren: Victoria Nielsen, Timothy Nielsen, Erica Pahl, Tayler Pahl, Cooper Pahl, John Komar Jr., Aidan Canavan and great grandchildren, Revan Nordan and Kathryn Klein.
Barbara was an active member of the Ouray Elks Lodge for years. She was a founding charter member of the Ouray Lady Elks before women were permitted to be actual members.
In lieu of flowers the family would like any donations to be made to HopeWest (Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado), P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Colorado 81402.
A memorial service on Sunday, June 9, 2013 the Ouray Elk's Lodge.
