He is survived by his loving wife Mary Jane, and his six children Jude, Daniel (Niki), Jane, Ann, Melissa and Andrew. Grandfather to Joshua, Jana, Emily, Tyler and Sarah and great-grandfather to three with one more on the way.
Bob served his country in the US Air Force for four years from 1951-1955 and was in the Korean War in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the US Atomic Commission during this time. Afterwards he attended UW-Whitewater and received a Bachelor Degree in Education. Bob taught science for 32 years in the Milwaukee Public School system. During this time he earned his Master’s Degree in Administration from UW-Milwaukee. During his children’s school years he spent many summer days off traveling through the United States with their camper exploring the great sites and enjoying the outdoors. Bob lived in Racine County and was a member of St Paul’s Church where he served as an usher for the 8:30 mass for several years. He enjoyed gardening and spent many summer hours working in his garden growing the majority of the vegetables and fruits for his family for the year. He filled the freezer in the basement, with the help of his wife and children, with these organic vegetables to enjoy during the winter months. During his retirement years he grew fruits, which he used in his hobby of wine making. Bob entered his wines and earned many ribbons at the WI State Fair. Bob was Wisconsin proud and a big sports fan. He loved his Green Bay Packers, a true green and gold man, never missing a game. He also supported the Milwaukee Brewers catching almost all of the games and watching as many of the Badgers football and basketball games that he could. Bob loved to fish! He always said, “Fishing is not a hobby. A hobby is for spare time.” He spent many years during retirement traveling to Alma, Wisconsin where he would spend days fishing in his favorite spot off the float there. Walleye Pike was his favorite to fish for.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. Bob will be laid to rest at St. Louis Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday before services from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
