Charles Fuller Baker (1872-1927) spent most of his career as a teacher of agronomy and agriculture, but he maintained a steady interest in entomology. Trained at Michigan Agricultural College, he taught for several years in Colorado, Alabama, and Missouri before going to California, where, in 1903, he obtained the M.S. degree at Stanford. After a brief stay at Pomona College, Baker did further teaching and field work in Cuba and Brazil, returned to Pomona for several more years and, in 1913, became a Professor of Agriculture at the University of the Philippines. In 1918 he became Dean of that University's College of Agriculture, a post he retained until his death. Although Baker's entomological studies were avocational, he made a significant addition to the United States National Museum, to which his collection passed at his death.
