Smith B. McCracken, 81 years, well known farmer and oil contractor of Wind Ridge, died Sunday afternoon, March 8, 1953, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glenn Gittings of South Morgan Street. He had been ill for some time. He was a son of Abraham and Ida Wright McCracken, and was born April 7, 1871, in Richhill Township. Most of his life was spent in Richhill and Aleppo Townships. His first Wife, Sarah F. Courtwright, died in 1917, and his second wife, Naomi Martin, died in 1947. Surviving are three daughters, one son; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, and one brother. Two sons are deceased.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the home of his daughter, conducted by Rev. J. E. Victor Carlson. Interment was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
