Robert C. Leslie Sr., 76, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Streator, died at 9:13 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the home of a son in Peoria.
Born June 8, 1927, in Streator, he was the son of Floyd and Goldie (Dodge) Leslie. He married Helen Lairmore on Dec. 18, 1980. She survives.
He attended Streator schools and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army.
He retired from Reyco Foundry in Springfield, Mo. in 1986.
Also surviving are daughters, Norma (Mrs. Dennis) Jordan of Washington, Ill., Marian (Mrs. Johnny) Witjen of Ava, Mo., Nancy (Mrs. Noel) Branscomb of Georgia, and Tammy Mahoney of Peculiar, Mo.; sons, Robert (Angie) Leslie Jr. and Gary Leslie, both of Peoria, Michael (Lois) Leslie of Wyoming, Ill., Robert Roberts of Creve Coeur, and Wayne, Albert, Donnie and Dale Leslie, all of Springfield, Mo.; 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elinor (Mrs. Joel) Holcomb, Beverly Antolik, Betty Kendall, Donna (Mrs. Timothy) Casey, Carolyn Kendall and Joan (Mrs. David) Ostring, all of Streator, Dorothy (Mrs. Walter) McDonald of Pontiac, and Irene (Mrs. Robert) Easterday of Wabash, Ind.; and brothers, Raymond (Shirley) Leslie and Ronald Leslie, both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melody Leslie; a sister, Mabel Day; and brothers, Albert, Paul, Max, Donald and Johnny.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Niebuhr will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons, Donald, Dale and Robert Leslie Jr.; grandsons, Robert Gonzales, Timmy and Robert Leslie IV.
