I never knew him but turns out he was the Grandson of Farrell Hair who my parents knew.

Colby will be missed by many.

Colby Thomas Crawford, 25, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was employed by Home Depot in Jasper.

He loved his son, his God, his dog and to fish.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Farrell Bivens Hair and Eugene Crawford; and stepgrandfather, Max Standridge.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Brenda Hair Standridge and Don Standridge; father and stepmother, Tom and Sheryl Crawford; one son, Blake Thomas Crawford and his mother, Emily Kirk; brothers and sister-in-law, Reid Crawford and Tommy and Leslie Sampson; stepbrother, Mark Stockard and his wife Robin; sisters, Lauren Crawford and Kacey Standridge; stepsister, Mary Beth Jones and husband Greg; grandparents, Geraldine Reyes, Peggy Crawford, Marie Standridge and Christine Hair; aunts, Wanda Hair Taylor and husband Gary, Moni Cantrell Ray and husband Dwayne; uncle, Craig Crawford and wife Diane; nephews, Ethan and Chandler Sampson; special friend, Sharon Barnes.

Services are Friday at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Prater, the Rev. Fred Johnson and the Rev. Bob Trowell officiating.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Burial will be in the Dawn Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, an educational fund for his son, Blake Crawford, has been set up through the First Bank of Dalton.
