Jane Ballew Perot, 82, died Monday, Jan. 7, in Norman.

A resident of Norman for over 60 years, Mrs. Perot was born in Sulphur July 8, 1925. Her parents were Louie and Lyda Ballew, who soon moved to Wilson, where Jane grew up and went to high school.

While a student at the University of Oklahoma, Jane met Remy Perot at the McFarlin Methodist Church Wesley Foundation. They were married Nov. 7, 1947, and made their first home together in Norman.

Jane and Remy had five children in the years 1951 to 1964 and lived across the street from Jackson Elementary School until 1997. Their home was well known to the many friends their children had during those years, and Jane always welcomed an extra friend or two after school. Jane was active in many church and school support groups, beginning with Jackson and moving up as her children did through West Junior High, Whittier Middle School and Norman High School.

A longtime member of McFarlin Methodist Church, Jane was also one of a small group that founded St. Stephen's Methodist Church on McGee Drive in 1958, remaining a member there for the rest of her life.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Lyda Ballew, and her husband, Remy Perot.

She is survived by her five children: Ruth Perot Million and her husband Scott Million of Tega Cay, S.C.; Paul Perot of Noble; Phillip Perot and his wife Cheryl of Norman; Rebecca Perot-Tripp and her husband, Davis Tripp of Norman; and David Perot and his wife Sharon, of Lake Oswego, Ore.

Jane especially loved her nine grandchildren, who now range in age from 14 to 23. They and her children will all miss her greatly, they said.

A memorial service for Jane was held at St. Stephen's Methodist Church Thursday, Jan. 10. Pastor Amy Venable presided. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks, Norman 73069.
