Moweaqua-- Charles Everett "Chalky" Dowd, 92 of Moweaqua died 4:20 p.m. Sunday (June 26, 2005) in Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center.
Funeral Mass will be 10a.m. Friday in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church,
Moweaqua, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, with 7:30 p.m. wake service. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials: St. Johns Home Healthcare.
Chalky was born March 24, 1913, in Moweaqua, the son of James William And Emma Long Dowd. He was a member of St Frances de Sales Catholic Church and worked as masonry contractor. He was employed as a custodian for Central A&M School. He married Florence Brown on Jan. 1, 1938, in Moweaqua. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary Sherrell and husband Ron of St. Peters, Missouri; Sandra Marucco and her husband Tom of Clermont, Fla.; grandchildren , Bradley (Christie)Sherrell of San Clemente, California; Terry Marucco Of Decatur, Ill.;Steve Marucco of Kissimmee, Fla.; Randy Marucco of Lutz, Fla.; five great-gandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Charles W.; parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
