ANDERSON — David R. Ashbaugh, 70, Anderson, died April 22, 2015, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1944, in Anderson, where he and resided most of his life.

He served his country in the Navy.

He retired as a machine repairman for Delco Remy after 25 years of service.

He was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, Cubs and wrestling fan and had been a citizen band radioer as “Out of Round.”

David is survived by his loving spouse, Rae (Finnerty) Ashbaugh; children, John L.R. (Gail) Ashbaugh, Dennis R. (Kristina) Ashbaugh and Samantha (Chad) Basey; sister, Mary Finley; sister-in-law, Nancy Ashbaugh; grandchildren, Kortney (Ashbaugh, husband, Zach) Talley, Devin Ashbaugh, Austin Ashbaugh, Leah (husband, Jeff) Estep-Huston, Brett Williams, Ashlee Fuller, Kitisha Turner; great-grandchildren, Ryan Estep, Hayden Smith, Swayze McPhearson, Kayson McPhearson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tim (Janet) Mattingly, Karla Sarvis, Jennifer Brewer, Gail Wade and Nick Ellingwood; special pets, Sissy, Cookie, Wildchild, Nala and Chico.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Emory Ashbaugh; father, John Lester Ross Ashbaugh; mother, Virginia (Carlton) Ashbaugh; siblings, Leonard Ashbaugh, Marta Walker and Carla Hines; and granddaughter, Keeley Thomas.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Community Room at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Military Rites will be held at the Community Room at 6 p.m., followed by memories being shared. Please bring a covered dish.
