Ray W. Biondi, 97, of Lower Macungie Township, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Elaine (Canova) Biondi. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 15th. Born in New Castle, PA, on June 16, 1917, he was the son of the late William A. and Jeanette (Dye) Biondi.


Ray attended Washington, D.C. schools and graduated from Southeastern University School of Law with an LLB degree. Upon graduation he entered the F.B.I. Academy and trained as a special agent. He served in Washington, D.C., Knoxville, TN, Norfolk, VA and Philadelphia. In 1942, he was assigned to head the first Allentown F.B.I. Office, becoming its first resident agent. After 9 years as a special resident agent, he joined the Arbogast and Bastian Meat Packing Company in Allentown, until his retirement in 1984. He served as Director of Purchasing and was a member of the Board of Directors. Ray also served on the Board of Directors of the Purity Bacon Products, Salisbury, MD, and Calo Pet Foods of Allentown.


Ray was a charter member and treasurer of the Allentown Jaycees. He was chairman of the Water Resources and the Manufacturers Division, while he served as Vice-President of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce. Ray served as a board member of the Swain School and was a past member of the Muhlenberg College Board of Associates. He was on the Executive Committee of the United Way and on the Board of Directors, as well as, the Lehigh County Homemakers Health Aid Services and the Junior Achievement of the Lehigh Valley. He served on the Public Affairs Council of the PA Chamber of Commerce steering committee. Ray was a trustee of the Bastian Charitable Foundation and was a member of the former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ray was a past member of the Livingston Club and a current member of Lehigh Country Club. He enjoyed bowling and golf in the past years and he was always ready to have a singing session with his friends.


Survivors: Ray is survived by his wife, Elaine, 3 Children: Nanette wife of Paul Marsh of Wrightsville, PA, Walter Biondi and his wife Maria of Port Ludlow, WA and Ray W. Biondi, Jr. and his wife Susan of Delta, PA, Stepsons: John Noble and his wife Dorothy of Vero Beach, FL and Tim Noble of Zionsville, PA, 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren. He was predeceased by 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters.


Services: Will be private, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
