NARA War Department records list this soldiers Home of Record as Westchester County, New York...Killed In Action.

Staff Sergeant David Chittenden Jr. was killed in the ferocious fighting that took place along the Villa Verde Trail in Luzon, the Philippines in World War II. He grew up on Chestnut Ridge Road in Chappaqua, New York and graduated from High School there in 1932.He enlisted in the Army on February 10th, 1941, more than 10 months before Pearl Harbor when Roosevelt had called for volunteers in case of war. Eventually he would join the 127th Infantry Regiment, 32nd Infantry Division (The Red Arrow Division). He fought with this division during in it's hard fought campaigns in the Southwest Pacific. These include battles fought in New Guinea, Port Moresby, Kokoda, Buna, Leyte and Luzon.
