Danny Ray Huffman was born the 14th of May 1948, and died on the 26th of April 2015 at age 66. He is preceded in death by his parents, Viola Virginia Lovern Huffman and Arthur Lee Huffman of Blacksburg and his grandparents, Albert John Huffman and Lula Bell Sarver Huffman of Craig County and Matthew Lee Lovern and Gaynie Ann Sweeney Lovern of Blacksburg. He graduated Blacksburg High School in 1966 and received his Bachelor of Science, his bachelor of Arts, and his Masters degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Danny served in the Army in Hanau, Germany from 1970 to 1972. He taught English at Blacksburg Middle School from 1976 to 1983 and then at Blacksburg High School from 1983 until his retirement in 2006.
Danny's pride and joy were his family and dear friends. Danny loved his family and had a passion for studying and researching the ancestry lines of his family and his friends. He served as Registrar and was a lifetime member of the Craig County Historical Society. He was a member of the Blacksburg Retired Teachers group and an active member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, the Monday Men's Bible Study group and the Emmaus community. He enjoyed lively and thought provoking theological discussions with his Koinonia Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Rodes, his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Dobbins and her husband, Todd Jackson Dobbins, his son, Johns Matthew Rodes Huffman and his fiance, Lille Dawn Robinson.
Danny was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
