Anne Michele (Shelley) Sower Caron , of Eagle, passed from this life on Sept. 23, 2009, at the age of 48, after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. She passed peacefully with one last smile for her family that surrounded her.
Throughout the years of treatment she maintained the strength, courage, compassion, empathy, dignity and good humor that marked her entire life. Even when she was most challenged by cancer, she was always concerned with how everyone else was doing. Her humility and grace were amazing.
For Shelley, the most significant role of her life was that of "mom". Her son, Parker, 14, was her greatest joy. Most of her life and time was dedicated to the welfare and happiness of Parker, her husband Steve and her extended family.
Shelley attended elementary school in Payette and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1979. She married Steve Caron in August 1980. Steve and Shelley adopted Parker on January 16, 1995.
Shelley was preceded in death by her father Stan Sower and stepfather Bill Caron.
Shelley is survived by her husband Steve and son Parker; mother Myrna Caron; sister Terri (Caron) Miller and Joe Miller and daughters Kelli and Jordan; brother Doug Sower and wife Terry and daughters Tiffany and Ashli; brother Bill Caron Jr.; sister Lisa Sower Farris and Dave Farris and sons Conner and Nate, daughter Katie; sister Vicki (Caron) Walsh and Dave Walsh and daughters Makenzi and Megan.
Finally, Shelley's family wants to thank the dedicated and skilled staff at MSTI, especially Pat and Denise, who developed such a compassionate bond with Shelley during her treatment. Also, XL Hospice for outstanding care.
Special gratitude goes to Dr. Paul Montgomery and Dr. Stephen Smith for their kindness, special care, and concern for Shelley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd. A reception will be held following funeral services, at Eagle Hills Golf Course.
These words were written by a cousin - Shelley, you have been a ray of sunshine even on cloudy days, your smile lights up a room, and everyone who has been touched by you will remember you in a very special way.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Shelley's name to MSTI 100 E. Idaho Boise, ID 83712.
