CHARLES MERRICK MELBOURNE Charles C. Merrick, Jr. salesman, moti vator, mentor, man of Faith, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 in Melbourne FL. A real estate agent for the past 17 years, Charlie worked for Pruitt Realty, Greene International, Kessel- Kirchner Realty, and most recently Viera Realty. As with all his endeavors, his approach was always positive, always balanced, taking into account the needs of the buyer as well as the seller. Charlie had a 23-year sales career at Harris Corporation, Semiconductor Division in Palm Bay FL, ending in 1989. As national sales manager, dis tribution sales manager, promo tional sales manager, internal account executive, he never failed to inspire and succeed. From 1986-89 he reported directly to the CEO, acting uniquely as the Sector morale chairman, tasked with the challenging job of improving employee morale. His early career included vari ous positions at Texas Instru ments and Hoffman Electronics. Early on, he honed his people skills behind a soda fountain at Boedeker Ice Cream Co; then as a water supply technician for the City of Greenville TX. Along the way, Charlie men tored many individuals whose lives and careers blossomed due to his efforts. Charlie had a gift for guiding others, inspiring them to achieve their fullest potential. His ready smile and positive outlook were beacons of hope to all who knew him. A dynamic speaker, Charlie led motivational seminars across Florida and the US. He co-authored a motivational book, Winning in Business and Life, yet unpublished. Born September 19, 1931, Charlie grew up in Greenville, TX, the youngest child of Charles Clark & Aubrey Merrick. He graduated high school there, and in 1953 received his B.S. in Chemistry as an honor graduate from East Texas State College, Commerce TX. He was a chem istry lab instructor while at East Texas State. Charlie achieved the rank of First Lieutenant in the US Air Force, serving from 1953-1956 and in the Air Force Reserves until 1961. He was assigned to a missile squadron in Germany as a pilotless aircraft guidance and control officer. An avid sports fan, Charlie eagerly followed the seasons of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks, often present at their games. Deeply spiritual, he shared and lived his Biblical beliefs, helping many of the less fortunate in the community. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn of Viera, FL; daughter, Melody and son-in- law, John Timinksy of Richard son, TX; daughter, Melissa and son-in-law, Don Gay of Carrol lton, TX; son, Charles Clark III and daughter-in-law, Laurie Merrick of Allen, TX; grandchil dren, Taylor and Tara Timinsky, Jennie, Ashley and Lauren Gay, Veronica, Valerie, Victoria and Charles Clark Merrick IV; sister, Mae and brother-in-law, Murray Pickens, Greenville, TX; and sister, Jo and brother-in-law, Charley Gililland, Richardson, TX; as well as other extended family in the Dallas area. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a life celebration service at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 12th at the Church of Christ of Melbourne, 810 Hollywood Boulevard, West Melbourne 32904. A second service will be held in Texas, with interment at the Money Family Cemetery, Hunt County, TX.
