C.J. Fraher, 57, Pontiac, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday (May 29, 2006) at ManorCare Nursing Home, Normal.
C.J. was born July 6, 1948, at Pontiac, a son of Charles and Ida Mae Allen Fraher. He married Julie Green on Aug. 18, 1984, at Lake Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Shelby Fraher, Normal; two sons, Chris (Teresa) Fraher, Lincoln, and Michael Fraher, Normal; and one brother, Charles Eugene Fraher, Chenoa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward Allen Fraher.
C.J. was educated in Saunemin Grade School and was a 1966 graduate of Saunemin High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1968-1970 in Germany as a REFORGER (Return of forces to Germany)–in the NATO Forces. He was a member–of the Big Red 1-63rd Armored Division. He served on the honor guard with the 24th Infantry at the funeral of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Abilene, Kan.
C.J. was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac, and the American Legion. He was employed at Driscoll Motors for the past 23 years as body shop manager.
