ILION - James W. Allston, 75, of 33 Wayne St.passed away at his late home Sunday. He was born August 30, 1902 in Ilion the son of Samuel and Alice Hartford Allston. He was married to Marcelline Carney in 1928; she died May 10, 1972. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and was formerly a Liner for Sperry-Rand-Univac, retiring 12 years ago. He has been a life long resident of this area. Mr. Allston was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, and a member of the 25-Year Club of Sperry Rand. He was a member of the Third Degree, Knights of Columbus and an Honorary life Member of the Fourth Degree Assembly. For several years, he served on the Mohawk Valley General Hospital Board. Mr. Allston is survived by one son, Edward (Ted) of Ilion. The funeral is Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Applegate Funeral Home, and 9 am. from the Church of the Annunciation Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 The Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus will meet Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for services.
