Son of James and Marcelline Carney Allston. Born and raised in Ilion, NY. Pilot with US Air Force during Korean War.

Second Lieutenant Allston was the pilot of a F-86F Sabrejet fighter bomber with the 12th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Group. On June 16, 1953, while on a combat mission, his aircraft crashed into the ground after completing a bomb run. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on April 13, 1954. His family knew him as "Jim."
