Ilion, NY -Daniel F. Bean, Jr., 78, of 11 S. Fourth Ave., retired Remington Rand worker, died yesterday after an illness of several months. Mr. Bean was born Jan. 9, 1879, in Auburn, Maine, son of Daniel F. and Ella Otis Brown Bean. In 1910 he married Catherine Hartford in Ilion. She died in 1953.He retired from his work as a machine setter in 1953 after 39 years with the company. He had recently assisted his son in the operation of Sleepy Hollow Cottages, Town of Warren. He attended the First Methodist Church. He leaves a son, Daniel H. Bean of Ilion; three nephews and one niece. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Applegate Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlton Van Ornum, Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.
