Worked on Erie Canal as a boy, starting at age 12. Had a sister Julia who did a family history, now unavailable, showing family descended from one Cyrus Clark who emigrated from England to Massachusetts in 1692. Two members of the family fought in Continental Army of American Revolution. Another member married a descendant of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

At the age of 77, Enos was hit and killed by a motorcycle while on his way home from work as a mechanic for Remington Arms.
