Marietta Jane Goines, 85, of Kingwood, WV, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, at her home.
Marietta was born in Kingwood, October 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Jesse and Laylor Jane (Younger) McDonald Sr.
She studied teaching through WV State College and taught at the North Central WV Head Start in Howesville for many years before retiring in 1998. Marietta was the operator of Ms. Mary’s Corndogs for over 42 years in Kingwood, also running a stand during the Buckwheat Festival. Marietta ran the Ms. Mary Loves Way Food Pantry from 1999 until present. She was a member of the Love Chapel Methodist Church. Marietta was the recipient of the State of West Virginia Life Time Achievement Award through the All Black Hall of Fame in Charleston. Most importantly, she loved time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Russell Goines, Jr., and Frank Goines, both of Kingwood; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Goines of Parkersburg; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Jesse, John, Jessica and Frank Goines, II; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Goines, Sr.; three brothers, Calvin Lawrence McDonald, Herbert McDonald, Sr., and Jesse McDonald, Jr.; one sister, Grace McDonald; one grandson, Nathaniel Goines.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street, on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 3-8 p.m.; on Friday, May 1, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Jonathon and Phyllis Anderson officiating. Interment will be held at the WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
