George H. Chavez Jr., who was born February 21, 1927 in Hondo, NM, was a US Army Veteran who earned World War II Victory medal and was a dedicated NM State employee at Fort Stanton for over 28 years, passed away March 27, 2015 at the Veterans Nursing Home in Truth or Consequence, NM.
His wife of 64 years Virginia Jean Pineda Chavez, who was born March 16, 1937 in Picacho, NM, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She passed away at home in Capitan on October 29, 2008.
Together George and Virginia made their life long home in Capitan, NM. They were loving parents and are survived by their 2 children, daughter Nancy Seidel of Capitan and son Robert Rex Chavez and his wife Rita of Albuquerque, NM. They are also survived by three grandchildren Chad Chavez, Michael E. Chavez & Kimberly Chavez Portio; also great-granddaughter Talisha Chavez and 2 great great-granddaughters and several step great-grandchildren.
