Mrs. Elder was born June 1, 1926 in Alexander County to the late Perry L. Jolley and Leona Stafford Jolley.
She had worked for Krispy Kreme, Segress Cleaners, Hydro Printing Company of Charlotte, CMC School System and Jones & Presnell Studios.
She was a member of Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church in Charlotte for many of years, where she was very active in the choir. She loved gospel music and singing in the church choir.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 53 years, Thomas L. Elder; two sisters, Cecil Jolley Crouch and Estell Jolley Eckerd.
Those left to cherish her memory include: two sons, John Keith Rogers of China Grove, Lynn Eugene Elder and wife, Melissa, of Charlotte; a sister, Ethel Jolley Logan and husband, David, of Hickory; a brother, Ray L. Jolley and wife, Helga, of Cornelius; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elder Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Adams Funeral Home.
