Caroline Marie (Meyer) Lehmann, age 96 of Hampton, passed away March 28 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, two days short of her 97th birthday. Funeral services were held April 1 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Grant Township. Rev. Karl Bollhagen officiated the service.
Caroline was born March 30, 1909, on her parent's farm near Bradford. Father: Herman Meyer. Mother: Emma Kappen. Brother: Kasper Meyer. Sister: Gladys Meyer Brauer.
Attended rural school in Grant and Lee Township and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1927. She taught school for four years at McDonald School in Lee Township.
Caroline married John Andrew Christian Lehmann on Feb. 25, 1931, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grant Center, and they were married for 62 years. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grant Center, until 1965 when the church closed. They then joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. Blessed with 9 children, they raised their family on a farm near Bradford, where Caroline was blessed to reside all of her married life.
Caroline was a loving mother, grandma and great grandma, who loved to cook, garden, and spend time with all her loved ones. She was a mentor and a friend to many. Caroline was a member of Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid and Martha's Circle; the last charter member of Pleasant Hill Cemetery Society of Grant Township, and a member of the Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition, MANY of her relatives, both by blood and by marriage, are also in my listings. To name just a few:
Her Infant Twin Sons, Arthur & Lavern Lehmann, died on December 29, 1931.
Granddaughter Kendal Rae Barz. Grandson Brian Dean Tripp.
Twin Great-Grandsons Ian & Keaton Harris.

"To be with Christ for Better." Phil 1:23 (on stone)

A placard placed next to the stone shortly after the funeral read:
Our hearts still ache with sadness
And our secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know
