Bernard S. Adams, 82, of Martinsville, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville.

Born in Bassett, Va. on August 4, 1923, he was the son of the late Mallie Adams and the late Brooksie Pendleton Adams.

Also preceding him in death was his wife, Doris Adams; son, Michael Adams; great-grandson Allen Colt Pigg; and brother, Cecil L. Adams.

Mr. Adams was in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike DeHart of Bassett; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one very special granddaughter and caregiver, Cindy Rivers. Mr. Adams is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Geneva Adams of Ferrum; and two sisters and brothersin-law, Beatrice and Claude Cobler of Bassett and Roberta and Henry Sword of Ferrum.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bob West officiating and burial to follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

Mr. Adams was kind, generous and always soft spoken. He loved his family. His fishing stories were the best. He will missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is serving the Adams family.
