Bernard Morris Katz, 81, Overland Park, died Aug. 11, 1991, at Humana Hospital-Overland Park. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in this area most of his life. Mr. Katz was an office manager and bookkeeper for American Compressed Steel Inc. for 23 years before he retired in 1973. He was a member of Temple B'nai Jehudah and its brotherhood. He was active in scouting for 35 years, helped organize three Boy Scout troops and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega scouting fraternity. He was a sachem of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and received the Silver Beaver, Shofar and Ner Tamid scouting awards. He was a graduate of the Kansas City College of Commerce. He was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II. Su rvivors include his wife of 51 years, Bertha Katz of the home; two sons, Allan Katz, Lenexa, and Jerry Katz, Overland Park; a daughter, Louise Doyle, Olathe; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Louis Chapel; burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the Tribe of Mic-0-Say in care of the Heart of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America, or to any charity.
