Walquist, Elsie L. age 95 of New London died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at GlenOaks Care Center in New London. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Memorials are suggested to your favorite charity. Elsie Louise Walquist was born on January 7, 1919, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Gustav and Anna Marie (Westrum) Frisk. She grew up in Minneapolis until the age of 11 when she moved to Spicer where she continued her schooling through the eighth grade. On March 20, 1938, she was united in marriage to Archie Walquist in Spicer. This union was blessed with four daughters and two sons. The family made their home in New London where Elsie worked various jobs throughout her life including GlenOaks Care Center for 17 years. Archie preceded her in death on December 22, 1981. He and Elsie and were able to share in 43 years of marriage before his death. Elsie was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church and New London American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking for family and friends, cooking, needle work, completing crossword puzzles, and having coffee with the birthday club. Elsie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Elsie L. Walquist died on Monday, September 29, 2014, at GlenOaks Care Center, she was 95. Elsie is survived by her children, Alice (Robert) DeGrote of Raymond, Dorothy (Byron) Klemmetson of Willmar, Helen Peterson of New London, Leonard (Gwen) Walquist of Hutchinson, Robert Walquist of Willmar, and Judith (Jim) Braeger of Leonard, ND; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Alan (101152923); a great-granddaughter; a great-great granddaughter; son-in-law, Norman Peterson (167606890); daughter-in-law, Norma Walquist (153709214); sister, Agnes (332377); and uncle, Andrew Westrem (96353186)
