HALLOWELL, David O.
84, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 9, 2006. David was born March 15, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., to Roy and Ruby Hallowell. After graduating from high school, he studied radio and electronics. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for almost four years. He was discharged in 1945, with the rank of chief petty officer. David married Ruth Marion Gerry in August 1942, and attended John Brown University, receiving his bachelor's degree in engineering from Pacific Western University. He worked in the aircraft industry in California, including work on the Space Shuttle, and with
Martin-Marietta at FAA in Fort Worth, where he retired in 1993. While living in Fort Worth, he served as associate pastor at Stewart Chapel CME Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Hallowell; and a brother, Bill Hallowell. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth Marion Hallowell; son, David G. Hallowell of Crimea, Ukraine; daughters, Beth Elder and husband, Gordon of Lancaster, Calif., Lydia Springfield and husband, Michael of Valley Village, Calif., Mary Huffmire and husband, Cliff of Jiquilpan, Michoacan, Mexico; sister, Lina Faucette of Groveland, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2006, at Stewart Chapel CME Church. Burial will be at 3 p.m., at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: David Hallowell Mission Fund, Stewart Chapel CME Church, 1700 Amanda Ave., Fort Worth 76105.
