Married Henry Davis in Prentiss, MS on Dec 24 1913
From "Our People of Bowie River" by Lucille Cauthen Davis:
When Big Henry was 33, he married Elizabeth Deen (Lizzie). The only land with a good house-site had been given to Morrison, and Henry was given the land in the swamp, with no place to build a house. They moved around several times, having five children from 1914 to 1924. They were Verdie, Katie (named for William Neal's Mother Catherine at his request), Samuel Austin (named for Sam Deen and Austin Davis), Mary Jane (named for her Grandmothers), and Jimmi Neal (named for his Grandfathers). They went to the nearest school, most of them having one room and one teacher. Jimmie Neal was the only one who attended just one school, Graham.
Elizabeth's full name was Mary Amanda Elizabeth, usually called Lizzie, Aunt Liz, Moma, or (years later) Granny Davis. She hadlived further south, near Melby. Her mother, Jane Burkhalter Deen, was almost full-blooded Cherokee Indian; her Mother all Indian, her father almost all Indian.
Side note: Jane Burkhalter Deen is also known as Sarie Deen, per descendants of this family line.
