Gladys Mae Melanson, 89, of Roanoke, "The Sun rose on August 28, 1925 and the Sun set on May 3, 2015". She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Johnson, her husband, Charlie Melanson, her son, Gary Lewis Myers, her brothers, Frank Clingenpeel and Gratton Clingenpeel, and her sister, Noni Crawford.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Patty) Crawford; her granddaughter, Natasha Robertson Jenkins; grandsons, Justin S. Robertson and Nick Crawford; great-grandchildren, Devin Poff, Cheyenne and Alexis Robertson; numerous cousins.

Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Pastor Ken Butterworth will officiate. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery, Franklin County. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 5, 2015.

A very special thanks to Dr. Robert Patten Jr., Good Samaritan Hospice, nurses and caregivers Angela Aitken, Debbie Jones, Susan Spickard and to special neighbor, Barbara Williams for all of their love and devotion to our family. A time of food and fellowship will follow the interment. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, Roanoke.
