Services for A.P. Lewis, Jr., 94, Sulphur, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 14 at the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ with Richard Day officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born April 6, 1912 in Hickory to A. P. Lewis and Sarah Louise Phipps Lewis, he died Sunday, April 9 in Sulphur. He married Phyllis Jean Stinnett in December, 1938 at Ada. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2005. A member of the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ, he was a retired civic leader and teacher. He grew up in Hickory, graduating from Hickory High School. He received his BS Degree from East Central in Ada and his Masters in Education Degree from OSU. He taught in several rural schools, retiring from Oklahoma School for the Deaf in 1977. He spent many years as Santa Clause at OSD and various other events. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Earline Lewis, Stillwater; two grandchildren, Melody Ann Rucker, Edmond and Regan Ray Lewis, Tampa, Fla., and two great grandchildren, Victoria Rucker and Storm Rucker. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. B. "Snooks" Lewis, Bill Lewis and one sister, Susie Jennings.
