NEWMAN, Lillie, Age 101 Of Hamilton passed away at Huntington Court on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at 1:25 P.M. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky on February 18, 1906 the daughter of Sam and Callie (Campbell) Allen. Lillie was the owner and operator of Hoppy's Garden and was employed at the Anthony Wayne Hotel, Holiday Inn, and Mercy Hospital. After her retirement, she was employed as a clerk for the City of Hamilton Golf Courses. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia MacGregor of Hamilton; three sisters, Elizabeth Harrison of Dayton, Mabel Elkins of Hazard, Kentucky and Bertha Napier of Rowdy, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Karen (Carlos) Perez, Jimmy (Cathy) Newman, John (Lori) MacGregor, Christine (Tim) Hackney, Marcia (Ernst) Schlichter, and Nancy (Brad) Brockhoff; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Newman; son-in-law, John E. MacGregor; great-grandson, Jimmer Newman; and six siblings. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Timothy Bunch of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John E. MacGregor Scholarship Fund, c/o Hamilton Community Foundation or Hospice of Cincinnati. www.browndawson.com
