Joseph Boll or Böll was born in Nöggenschwiel or Waldshut, Baden, Germany to Josef Boll and Rosina Bernauer. His siblings were:

Johann Evangelist Boll b. Dec. 15, 1815 in Nöggenschwiel, marr. Rosa on Jun 5, 1851.
Alois Boll b. Mar. 16, 1817 in Nöggenschwiel.
Anna M. Boll b. June 23, 1818 in Nöggenschwiel.
Nothburga Boll b. Sep. 27, 1820 in Nöggenschwiel, marr. Mößmer Villinger, d. Sep. 18, 1843 in Hogschür, Baden.
Mathaus Boll b. in 1822 in Nöggenschwiel, marr. Maria Ursula Kaiser.

Thomas Boll b. Feb. 24, 1828 in Nöggenschwiel.
Stephania Boll b. Jun 1, 1830 in Nöggenschwiel.
Andreas Boll (# 94034728) b. Aug. 21, 1833 in Nöggenschwiel, marr. Maria Sherman in Minn.
Richard Boll b. Apr. 3, 1834 in Nöggenschwiel.

Joseph, Andrew and Stephanie emigrated to Michigan in 1855, journeying on the ship "Russell" from Le Havre to New York, arriving on Mar. 17, 1855. From New York they went to Michigan where they stayed about 18 months. At that point, Joseph and Andrew moved on to Minnesota. They both homesteaded in the St Bonifacius area. Joseph and Andrew were on the 1860 Census in Minnetrista, Minn. with Joseph as the Head of Household, Andrew as farm labor and Joseph married to Veronica, who had arrived in America in 1959.

Joseph was present on the 1865 MN Census with Veronica and 2 children, Alfon and Anna. There are no ages listed on that Census for anyone, but Alfon is listed first, was he older? Alfon died young so nothing more is known about him.

Joseph fought in the Civil War as a Private in the 2nd Regiment of the Minnesota Infantry. He was killed before the end of 1865: His widow Veronica had filed for a survivor's pension by Dec. 11, 1865.

Joseph's burial location is currently unknown after checking the databases at findagrave, the NPS, VA and NARA.
