Olaf was in the store every day in time for local early morning bread truck deliveries until closing around 7:00 PM and was a friendly face. Mr.and Mrs. Adams housed a large extended family in their home and an apartment under their store. The provided a place to live for Olaf's aunts and Valera's father. They carried on daily household operation from the store.Valera enjoyed cooking and sharing with her neighbors. The Adams were a very friendly couple. They always enjoyed decorating the Wayside Grocery windows at Christmas time. Mr. and Mrs. Adams attended Hilltop and Baptist Home Church. They had one child, Bobby, who passed away his shortly after his birth. The Adams were especially fond of a few selected children who lived within walking distance of Wayside Grocery. Mr. Adams also kept beagles and enjoyed small game hunting.
