He was born Sept. 3, 1947, in Holmes County, Miss., to Erie Smith and Josephine Whitaker.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Josephine and Robert Greer; two sons, Cecil and Aaron Whitaker; two daughters, Courtney and Melissa Whitaker; two stepdaughters, Trina and Kim Abernathy; five brothers, Roy Whitaker, Robert Greer Jr., Ernest Whitaker, McArthur Whitaker, and Clarence Whitaker; and two sisters, Maxine Jenkins and Deborah Whitaker.
He was a former construction worker.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
