Leona Faye Pitt Ball Bell, 82, of Amarillo died Monday, June 5, 2006. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Bell was born July 24, 1923, in Amarillo to O.A. Pitt, who was a building contractor, and Maude Pitt, who was a homemaker. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1940. She worked at the Amarillo Air Base from 1943 to 1946. She married Lt. Bob Ball on Oct. 7, 1944. This marriage lasted until the Korean recall, when Bob was killed on June 16, 1951. His plane went down as he was coming home on Father's Day. This union produced one son, Glenn. Leona was very active being both a mother and a father to Glenn. On Dec. 7, 1968, she married Jack Bell. She then became a mother for the second time to Jack's son, Donald. Jack passed away on March 17, 1981. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Leona had many hobbies including oil painting, china painting and world traveling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Opal Vinatieri; five brothers, Loyal, Tom, Ivan, Otto and Bobby Pitt; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn E. Ball and wife Debbie of Cypress and Don Bell and wife Brenda of Conroe; a sister-in-law, Virginia Pitt; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other close family friends The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Terrace Christian Church Building Fund, 4000 Mays St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
