PANHANDLE - Mildred "Mitch" Kuehler, 84, died Thursday, May 18, 2006.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. Mieczyslaw Przepiora officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., in Amarillo.

Mrs. Kuehler was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Henrietta, Okla., to Robert M. Chastain and Myrtle Chastain. She later moved to Panhandle and graduated from Panhandle High School, where she was head cheerleader and Miss PHS. She then attended Texas Tech. "Mitch" loved sports. She was a homemaker, a past officer of Panhandle Country Club Ladies Golf Association Jovileers in Groom and a member of the Athenaeum Club. She married C.J. "Goobe" Kuehler in 1943 in Panhandle.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Kathy Youree; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Weller of Panhandle; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

The family suggests memorials be to St. Ann's Nursing Home in Panhandle.
