The son of Judson and Jessie Ward, Born in Plainview Nebraska. Clare moved to Pierre in 1929 and several years later, started "Snappy Delivery". He married Mary Elizabeth Gaughan on May 29th, 1935. He served on the Pierre volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and was a member of the Elks Club and 7000 Club (Fundraiser for St. Joseph School).
