Dr. Preston practiced in Garland for 5 years before coming to Salt Lake City. He was a member of the American Utah State and Salt Lake County medical association and a staff member of the Cottonwood LDS Hospital.
He received his medical training at Nebraska Medical school. He was a graduate of the University of Dubuque and attended the Utah State Uiversity.
A veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Dr. Preston was a medical officer for the US Navy for two years.
Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At the time of his death he was a bishop of the Valley View 10th Ward. He was a former member of the Bear River Valley Stake high council and former stake superintendant.
He was born in Logan July 30, 1924 a son of William B and Mable Amussen Preston. On June 18 1946, he married Marian Carlisle in the Logan LDS Temple.
Survivors include his widow; five children; Craig, James Douglas, Debbie and Bonnie Jean all of Salt Lake City; his mother, Logan. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister, William B. Salt Lake City. Richard, Santa Ana Calif; and Mrs. Howard (Barbara Ann Cole) Livermore Calif.
Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday at noon at the Valley View Tenth LDS Ward 2000 E. 3900 So.
Friends may call at 4670 So. Highland Drive on Monday from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday at the Chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Redwood Memorial Estates.
The Family suggests contributions to the Dr. Robert Dee Preston Medical mission to South America Fund.
