Mr. Christ Albertz, who for some time, was the sexton of the Woodlawn Cemetery here, has been successful in being elected by the Mayor and Aldermen of Brookhaven, sexton of the cemeteries in that thriving little city. Christ is experienced in matters of this kind and will undoubtedly give satisfaction in his new location. He will move to Brookhaven in a short while.- Summit Sentinel.

Whereas, At the April meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the city of Brookhaven, Miss., held at the Mayor's office in said city on the first Tuesday of April, A.D.., 1901, at 7:30 o'clock p.m.. Christ Albertz, was elected one year from said date and his salary fixed at twenty dollars per month, his duties were then and there defined: to put and keep the avenues, walks and ways in the Jewish, Prostestant and Catholic cemeteries in a first-class cleanly condition under the direction of the Ladies' Cemetery Association of Brookhaven, composed of members from the respective religious associations. He was and is allowed to charge, in addition to the said monthly salary,$2.50 on interments of children and $3.50 for those of adults and such sums as the owners of the plats in said cemeteries might agree to pay for cleaning the graves therein contained; and, whereas, said order was inadvertently omitted from the proceedings; now, therefore, the order electing the said Chris Albertz, to the office of City Sexton, on said date, at $20 per month on the conditions herein before defined and set forth on the first Tuesday in April,A.D.1901, and is here now entered by the Mayor and Board of Alderman of the City of Brookhaven, Miss., nunc pro tunc. The Leader is inclined to think that the city or the Cemetery Association or some of our benevolent and philanthropic societies might well consider the building of at least one room, for the comfort of the city sexton at the cemetery. The faithful old man sleeps and lives in the old latticed well house, where he must keep all his implements and where people are constantly calling for water and assistance from him during their visits to the cemetery. It seems to us if the sexton is required to keep guard night and day, he ought to be at least as well "fixed" as Billy on the railroad. Why search for objects of benevolence and relief for the suffering up and down and over the earth, when there is so much one can do within arm's reach?
