She was born on January 19, 1925 in Westville, Illinois, the daughter of Lester and Nelle Mae (McDowell) Bann. June graduated from Westville High School. During high school, she played the clarinet in the marching band, was on the debate team and loved to roller skate. She also whistled on the local radio station in Danville, Illinois. On December 30, 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert B. Hartshorn.
June was employed as the personnel manager at Woolworth’s in the Southway Plaza here in Muncie until its closing. She also worked at the Delaware County Clerk’s office. June was very active with the Delaware County voting polls, where she served as a clerk and judge for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Barbosa (husband, Jim) and Rose Hayden (companion, Dan Stevens); six grandchildren, Kimberly Hartshorn, Manning Hartshorn, Raymond Hartshorn, Brian Barbosa, Valerie Barbosa and Matt Hayden(wife, Rhea); and four great-grandchildren, Bill Olson, Scotty Olson, Randy Olson and Virginia Hayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Herman Hartshorn; her husband of sixty-nine years, Robert B. Hartshorn on January 3, 2015; one brother, Robert Bann; one sister, Virginia Robertson and a nephew, Bobby Robertson.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
