Her parents divorced before she was 12 years old, and she moved with her mother and widowed grandmother to Vallejo St. Her mother worked as a secretary for an automobile company and married F.A. Grimm after 1920. Vivian graduated from high school.
In about 1927 Vivian married Walter Mulford. They had no children. They continued to live in San Francisco, where Vivian died at age 51.
