George Beckett, 89, died May 1 in Yucaipa, CA. He was a native of the Indian Territory in Alva, Oklahoma and had lived in Yucaipa for 57 years.
Mr. Beckett was a member of he Yucaipa Valley Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Della Beckett of Yucaipa; one son, Robert W. Beckett of Rialto; one grandchild; two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services were held may 5 at 10am at the Emmerson-Bartlett Yucaipa Chapel with the Rev. Richard Graley of the Yucaipa Valley Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment was at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington.
George moved to Nebraska as a small boy by covered wagon.
He attended school in the Kent district. He was the son and only child of David William Beckett and Deal Avalene Butler who also spent time as a young girl in Kent.
George met and married Della Alberta Lewis, daughter of John Phillip and Nora Lewis of Taylor, NE. The marriage survived 68 years from January 16, 1921 to may 1, 1989.
He had lived in California 67 years.
