Mrs. Holmes along with her late husband D. Dwight "Tilly" Holmes owned and operated a jewelry store in Warren for 35 years. Holmes, a 1936 graduate of Lancaster Township High School in Huntington County, was a 50 year member of the Warren United Methodist Church, and a longtime member of both Tri-Kappa and the Eastern Star in Warren.
Born on Dec. 28, 1917, she was the daughter of Glenn and Effie (Schultz) Rudicel, both deceased. She was married on Oct. 27, 1940 in Warren to D. Dwight "Tilly" Holmes, who preceded her in death on May 18, 2006.
Survivors include her son John Holmes of Birchrunville, Pa., a granddaughter Mrs. Reggie (Christine) Griffin of Arizona, and two nephews, Jack and James Rudicel of Huntington, In.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Gene Rudicel.
